Help us get a referendum on the ballot in November to end the redundant and costly Bloomington Election Commission.  The BEC costs McLean County about $500,000 per year to operate an election authority that is separate from the rest of McLean County.  Everywhere else in McLean County, election duties are performed by the County Clerk's office.  This petition would put a referendum on the ballot that gives Bloomington voters the power to decide whether or not the Bloomington Election Commission should be eliminated.  If eliminated, then all election duties within McLean County would be contained within the same unit of government.

Ballot placement for this referendum requires 1,000 valid signatures from registered voters in the City of Bloomington.  While only registered voters with Bloomington addresses can sign the petition, any U.S. citizen over age 18 can collect petition signatures.  People who volunteer to collect petition signatures may turn in their petition sheets at any McLean County Libertarian Party event.  The recurring monthly meeting is the second Wednesday of each month.  Volunteers may also contact chair@mcleancountylp.org with any questions.

The deadline to turn in petition sheets is August 6th, 2018.
